Starter Sessions are an excellent introduction to canoeing. They are open to everyone, from eight years old to eighty years young! You don’t need any previous canoeing experience, specialist kit or skills… just turn up and have a go!
If you've been canoeing before, Starter Sessions are also a great opportunity to find out what Addlestone Canoe Club has to offer. Perhaps it's been a while since you were last out on the water, or maybe you want to share your passion and introduce family and friends to the sport.
Whatever your motivation, Starter Sessions provide an ideal opportunity to get out on the water and get paddling.
Usually our try-it days don't need prior booking, but if you're interested, or if you have further questions then please don't hesitate to contact us. You can check when the next try-it/go canoeing day is on our Event Calendar page.
Check our Events Calendar page for details about the next Try-it days. The Try-it days are not counted towards one of your 3 temporary membership sessions.
- Sessions will last about 1 hour
- You must be able to swim 25m in light clothing, please bring a change of clothes, a towel and some trainers to wear in the boat.

This is a day to try any sort of canoeing, from fast sprint boats to peaceful open Canadian canoes. Come along and see what it's like on the water - or just try the ergo machines on dry land. You don't have to have any experience whatsoever, bring the whole family because we believe the more the merrier!
There will also be various kayaks and polo boats for fun and games. Just remember, you will get wet!!
